What does A.C.T.S. stand for: It is an acronym for Adoration, Community, Theology and Service and it is these four themes that are the focus of the activities of a retreat weekend. The A.C.T.S. weekend is an opportunity for retreatants to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord and fellow parishioners through Adoration and daily prayer, Community with the parish as members of one Body of Christ, Theology as taught by our Catholic faith and study, and Service to our Lord and one another for the building up of the kingdom of God.
A.C.T.S. is a Catholic retreat movement presented by parishioners with the guidance of religious leaders. The goal of each retreat is to facilitate a deepening of our relationship with Jesus Christ, to renew us spiritually, to give new meaning to our prayer life, and to build lasting friendships with members of our parish communities. It is a 3-day, 3-night Catholic lay retreat presented by fellow parishioners like yourself. Much of the weekend will be spent with a team from our parish who face the same difficulties as you are living in today’s world. The weekend will be filled with talks, reflection time, singing, praising, the Sacraments, and sharing the blessings with the Lord. The retreat begins on a Thursday evening, with check-in starting at 5:15 p.m. in the OLMC parish hall, and ends on Sunday following the 11 a.m. mass with a closing meal provided in the parish hall for retreatants and family. Transportation to and from the retreat center (Our Lady of Corpus Christi) is provided.
“It was not you who chose me, it was I who chose you to go forth and bear fruit.” John 15:16 A life in Christ begins first with the realization that it is God who initiates the relationship. Jesus invites us to a personal loving relationship with Him, and Adoration begins with accepting that invitation. Adoration allows time for silence, prayer and meditation in the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ (Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity).
“It has pleased God...to make all holy and save them not merely as individuals without mutual bonds, but by making them into a single people, a people which acknowledges God. It is through one another and through participation in the Community of Christ that we grow support and forgiveness, and bring Christ to the world.
God comes to us in experience. So, Theology is to explore the religious dimensions of human experience. Simply put, Theology is trying to understand who God is. Tools for growth include prayer, scripture reading, studying the mysteries of our Catholic faith, obedience to God’s World, witnessing in action and words, and openness to the Power of the Holy Spirit.
"For I have given you an example that you should do as I have done to you". John 13:15 Service arises from our identity as Christians and our love for God. A servant's first loyalty is to the master, not the task. We serve out love, concerned not with what role we are called to serve in but with authenticity of our love for Christ. The A.C.T.S. commitment to service is inspired by: “This is how all will know you are disciples, if you love for one another.” John 13:35
